About ball valve
Ball Valve Description
A Ball Valve is a quarter-turn valve that uses a rotating ball with a bore (hole) to control the flow of liquids, gases, or powders.
When the hole is aligned with the pipeline, the valve allows flow (open position); when rotated 90, the flow stops (closed position).
Ball valves are preferred for their tight sealing, low pressure drop, quick operation, and long service life.
In the pharmaceutical and food industries, sanitary ball valves with Tri-Clamp (TC) ends and SS316L construction are used to meet GMP and FDA standards.
Working Principle
-
The valve has a ball with a central bore mounted on a stem.
-
When the handle or actuator turns the stem 90, the ball rotates.
-
When the bore aligns with the flow path Valve Open
-
When perpendicular to the flow path Valve Closed
